Underground Pipeline Services Contractor
A regional underground pipeline services contractor standardized its quoting and job setup on Salesforce, cutting quote turnaround so the first responder wins more bids.
A regional underground pipeline services contractor with roughly 100 employees had run Salesforce for five years, but a brand new sales team and a growing operations excellence function were using it in scattered, inconsistent ways. Leadership wanted every department working from one clean system before scaling sales, marketing, and a future ERP rollout.
The challenge
Quoting was slow and manual, with reps spending close to an hour per line item and quotes valid for only 90 days. Job setup was handled differently by sales reps and the operations team, creating rework and bad data. Contacts, rate sheets, and follow ups lived partly outside the CRM, and in a market where the first vendor to respond usually wins the job, that lag cost deals.
The solution
SiiMPLY7 upgraded the org to Sales Cloud Enterprise Edition and built CPQ around standardized price books and quote templates so reps could price jobs quickly and consistently. A unified Job Setup process replaced the two conflicting workflows, DocuSign was integrated for signature, and quote emails were logged automatically as opportunity activities. The work was structured to feed the planned Trimble Spectrum ERP integration rather than create throwaway processes.
