Modern Furniture & Decor E-Commerce Retailer
A modern furniture and decor e-commerce retailer moved off stored credit card data to tokenized Stripe payments inside Salesforce, closing a PCI compliance gap while streamlining how the sales team takes manual orders.
The client is an e-commerce retailer of modern and contemporary furniture, lighting, and home decor, and a long-standing pioneer of furniture e-commerce. It curates an assortment of iconic and emerging global design brands and ships nationwide, with a dedicated trade program for interior designers and architects. Payment handling inside Salesforce relied on manually entered credit card details and historical card data stored in records, creating both a compliance risk and a clunky order-to-payment process.
The challenge
Sensitive credit card information was being stored directly in Salesforce, exposing the business to PCI compliance risk. The team needed payments to run on tokenized data rather than raw card numbers, a cleaner way to request and collect payment from customers, and a reliable link between manual Salesforce orders and the Shopify order that fulfilled them. They also needed to safely purge all historical card data already sitting in the system.
The solution
SiiMPLY7 reconfigured Chargent to process payments through Stripe using tokenized data, so transactions no longer required storing credit card numbers in Salesforce. The team built a payment page and enabled payment links that could be sent manually or automatically from Salesforce, with payment records synced back into the platform. Chargent security was hardened with encrypted fields, field-level security, validation, and field history tracking for audit purposes, and all historical credit card information was removed to bring the org into PCI alignment. The order workflow was structured so manual orders flow from Account to Opportunity to Quote and Chargent transaction, with order completion handled in Shopify.

- Payment page and payment links sent manually or automatically from Salesforce, with payments synced back to records
- PCI-focused security hardening: encrypted fields, field-level security, validation rules, and field history tracking
- Full removal of historical customer credit card information from Salesforce
- Manual order-to-payment workflow connecting Account, Opportunity, Quote, and Chargent transaction, with Shopify as the fulfillment hub
- Follow-on migration from Salesforce Classic to Lightning Experience, including Apex and Visualforce refactoring
Results
Stored card data was removed and payments shifted to tokenized Stripe transactions, aligning the org with PCI compliance
The sales team can request and collect payment directly from Salesforce via payment links, with records synced automatically
Encrypted fields, field-level security, and field history tracking improved control and traceability over sensitive payment data
Engagement summary
The core payments engagement was a focused, time-and-materials effort of roughly three to four weeks covering Chargent and Stripe reconfiguration, payment link enablement, and historical card data cleanup. SiiMPLY7 later delivered a separate Classic-to-Lightning Experience migration, and the relationship has continued under ongoing support.
What's next
Natural next steps include deeper two-way synchronization between Salesforce and Shopify, expanded payment options such as ACH and wire alongside card, automated payment reminders, and continued optimization on Lightning.
