Environmental commodity and carbon markets

Global Environmental-Commodity Markets Operator

An environmental-commodity markets operator launched a branded Experience Cloud portal that gives customers secure, controlled access to legal documents and shared files without exposing them to copy or download.

The client is a San Francisco-based global market infrastructure company operating the world's largest spot exchange for carbon credits and environmental commodities, serving over 100,000 customers including Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. Backed by a $400 million investment from Blackstone Energy Partners and selected by the State of New York to build its greenhouse gas reporting platform, the company connects buyers and sellers of voluntary carbon offsets, renewable energy certificates, and low-carbon fuels across global markets. The company needed a controlled, secure way to share terms-of-use and license documents with customers and prospects at scale. Sales reps had no consistent channel to deliver these materials, and the documents required protection against copying or redistribution. SiiMPLY7 was engaged to build a branded customer portal on Experience Cloud.

The challenge

The business needed customers and prospects to review uneditable license and terms-of-use documents through a single branded experience, with sales reps able to send access from Salesforce. The content had to be locked down: no right-click, no text selection, no copy or paste on web or mobile. Access also had to respect strict separation, with each customer organization able to see only its own files and never another company's contents.

The solution

The firm built a branded Experience Cloud portal aligned to the company's existing support-site styling, served from a dedicated portal domain. Authentication launched with username and password and temporary first-login credentials, with single sign-on left as a clean future option. The team configured a shared read-only file library alongside customer-specific private libraries, scoped so each organization could access only its own folder while operations staff retained full read, write, and modify rights across all libraries. Content protection was applied to disable copy and paste of the hosted documents on both web and mobile, and access was limited to defined sales and solutions profiles.

Engagement summary

The engagement delivered a branded, content-protected Experience Cloud portal with controlled authentication, a shared library, and isolated customer-specific libraries, plus simple instructions for reps to grant access at go-live. The build moved document sharing from an ad hoc process to a secure, governed channel.

What's next

Planned enhancements include self-service capabilities for customers, single sign-on via the company's identity provider, and evaluation of file storage against the company's preferred document repository as the portal scales beyond its initial document-sharing use case.
