Commercial Banking Fintech
A financial technology company delivered a Salesforce-based commercial loan profitability tool so a bank's lenders could price relationships in one place.
A financial data technology company needed a commercial lending solution for one of its regional bank clients. Lenders had to judge the risk-adjusted profitability of each loan and the full customer relationship before quoting terms.
The challenge
Commercial lenders evaluated loans, deposits, and lines of credit separately, often in spreadsheets, using assumptions and funds transfer pricing that were hard to keep consistent. There was no single view of relationship profitability across new, existing, and future business.
The solution
SiiMPLY7 designed and built a commercial loan spread optimization app on Salesforce. Lenders create loans, deposits, lines of credit, term, and non-revolving loans with automatic calculations and payment schedules. A relationship summary rolls everything up, a pricing calculator compares maturity and amortization options, and administrators configure assumptions and funds transfer pricing.
Implementation highlights
What we built.
- Data model for loans, deposits, and credit structures
- Automatic calculations and payment schedules
- Relationship profitability summary across all business
- Pricing calculator by maturity and amortization term
- Configurable assumptions and funds transfer pricing
Results
Loan and deposit profitability in one place
Shared assumptions applied to every deal
Pricing alternatives shown side by side
Engagement summary
The build moved from discovery and UX design to a proof of concept, business acceptance testing, and rollout over about four to five months, followed by several change orders as the bank refined requirements.
What's next
The configurable design allowed new loan products and pricing assumptions to be added without rebuilding the app.
